The 12th Advanced Heterostructure Workshop will run on Big Island, December 3-8, 2006

  • The Advanced Heterostructure Workshop (AHW) is a 4 1/2 day meeting with morning and evening sessions, and with afternoons for adhoc meetings and discussions among participants.

  • The format of each session involves one or two overview presentations plus lively discussion (about 15 minutes for each paper) based on recent data. To ensure enough time for discussion, short presentation of data is encouraged.

  • Each participant is expected to participate in these discussions and is strongly encouraged to bring three to four overhead transparencies or a PC with PowerPoint files showing most recent results that can be incorporated into the discussions. 

  • Titles, introductions, summary and acknowledgements are strictly discouraged.

  • The total number of participants will be limited to around 80 to keep the discussions lively in the single session.

  • The workshop will include participants active in the following fields:

  • Materials and physics for quantum devices

  • Alternative substrate technology

  • Process technology for heterostructure quantum devices

  • Heterostructure technologies emerging into mainstream applications

  • Novel circuits for quantum devices

  • Resonant tunneling devices

  • Mesoscopic structure transistors

  • Magnetic heterostructures

  • Quantum functional devices

  • Spintronic materials, devices and structures

  • Quantum computing

  • Molecular self assembly for future electronic devices

  • Molecular electronics

  • NanoBio sensors and electronics

  • High performance devices based on SiC and GaN

  • Carbon nanotubes

  • Heterostructure based mechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS)
